before you start.
Does it need internet?
For AI features, yes — same as ChatGPT or Claude. For local Whisper transcription and SFX library search, no.
Which AE versions are supported?
After Effects 2024 (24.0) and later. CEP 12 required. Mac and Windows.
Do I have to use Claude?
No. Plug in your OpenAI, Gemini, or Anthropic API key — or use Manual mode (copy-paste with any model, including local ones). Vision mode currently requires Claude.
Is my comp data sent anywhere?
Only the AI request payload — layer names, kinds, and (with vision enabled) a downsampled screenshot. Nothing is stored on our servers. Caches live on your machine.
Can I undo an AI batch rename?
Yes. The entire batch runs inside one AE undo group — Cmd-Z (Ctrl-Z) reverts everything.
What's the difference between Vibe Motion and AI to AE?
Vibe Motion generates new motion graphics (writes Remotion / Hyperframes code, renders, imports). AI to AE modifies your active comp directly via ExtendScript commands.
Will this slow down AE?
No. The panel runs in its own Chromium process. The only AE-side work happens when you trigger an action.
How do I install it?
Drop the extension folder into ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/ (Mac) or %APPDATA%\Adobe\CEP\extensions\ (Windows). ZXP installer for the polished release.
Is there a free tier?
The Organise tab gets you 10 AI Rename runs per day for free. Other tabs require Pro.
